Frequent Questions

1. Does MGW sell firearms, ammo, accessories, or reloading supplies?

  • Yes, MGW has a small inventory of firearms, ammo, accessories and offers reloading services.

2. What type of work do you do?

  • MGW does repairs on most firearms, including customizing and refinishing. Refinishing services include bluing, polishing, CeraKote, and wood refurbishing.

3. How can I drop off for repair?

  • Click on the “Schedule Appointment” under contact. Call, text or email Josh to get put on the calendar. Please show up on time.

4. I work through the week, and the only time I have is not during your listed business hours. What should I do?

  • Send an email to mastgunworks@gmail.com and request a day and time that is convenient. Special arrangements can be made.

5. I tried calling, but no one answered…what’s the deal?

  • Mast Gun Works is owned and operated by Joshua Mast. Josh is a full time Firefighter/Paramedic in addition to doing all the gunsmithing, billing, advertising, emails, phone calls, ordering, etc. for MGW. Most days are spent working on firearms or saving the lives of your loved ones. Both of those things make it difficult to answer the phone. Please be patient. Josh will get in touch with you as soon as he is able and strives to give each customer the time they need.

6. I’m looking at buying my first personal defense firearm…what should I look for?

  • This can be a difficult choice to make. You want to find something that feels comfortable in your hand and that you can aim and shoot well. The best way to do this is to take a class with an instructor or go to a range that will allow you to rent a variety of handguns to try them out so you can determine what works best for you. Be sure to ask about warranties on your new purchase!!!

7. I was watching a YouTube video on how to fix my gun, and it didn’t work…what now?

  • Stop. Just stop. Please. I understand the idea of trying to save money, however, if you are not 100% sure of what you are doing, it’s a good idea to take it to someone who does. Yes it may cost more than if you did it yourself, but at least you will know it will function when you need it and you will have all your fingers.

8. What’s the best AR-15 for me to buy? Should I build instead of buy?

  • The one you can afford! The industry is so competitive that it is difficult to find a bad AR-15. It all comes down to what accessories you want and how much you are willing to pay. I would recommend purchasing your first one and accessorizing it. Then you can build your second one.
